I've made a sharing for my girlfriend to backup some data, but she can't write-access it, even if, when I mount it as a network share on her WinXP Home SP2 laptop, I set "log on as a different user" and I give "VISTACOMPUTER\mylogin" / my_password. And for my HD media player (DVico Tvix M5000-U), which needs a share to access movies on my computer (if i've not put them in the integrated hard disk), it needs Guest account to access the share. But even if I've enabled Guest account, allowed Network sharing in Vista FW, set all the rights to Guest on this shared folder, (and even if I disable the firewall), the player can't access the share, it seems unable to even see the share, while if I reboot to XP, where I've done the same things, there's no problem at all. I'd like to make it work with Vista, so I would not have to reboot to XP sometimes. Does anyone see what I could have forgotten? Thank you
Christophe

If you are using Vista 5308 Home Premium or Home Basic you may have some trouble getting file or folder sharing to work. There are a couple of known bugs in that area.
To fix the problem with your media player give this a try: 1. Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> File and Printer Sharing 2. Under the network resources select "Anyone who is on the same network as this computer" 3. Click save. 4. Right-click the folder you want to share, select "Properties", click the classic button, check "Yes, share this folder"
Your media player should now be able to connect as a guest to the folder you've shared.
As for the problem with mounting the network share...how did you create the share on the folder?
